Roaming FAQ

Roaming Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is "roaming?"

A: Roaming is the term which describes connecting to your Red River account while away from Red River's normal service area.

Q: Do I pay more for roaming?

A: If you have a Red River account in good standing you will be able to roam. There are no additional fees for this service. Using roaming will have NO EFFECT on your current Red River dial-up account. When you return to our service area you can reset your computer to dial into any of Red River's 5 local numbers.

Q: Where can I use roaming?

A: We have dial-up numbers in 49 states and parts of Canada. Use our website to search for a local access number in your area.

Q: Do I have to let Red River know when I'm going out of town?

A: No, you don't. Just change the phone number your computer will dial and the "username" field in the dial-up connection window and connect to a local number in your out of town destination.

Q: I can't connect! Why not?!

A: If you are trying to connect to Red River by dialing through Qwest, make sure the "User Name" field in the dial-up connection window is specified as "username@rraz.net" (where "username" is your username at Red River) and that your password is correct.

Q: I can't send out email! Why not?!

A: You will still be able to send email through Red River, but you must log in and *check* your email first. After you check your email, your computer's address will be stored for about an hour during which you can send out email. As long as you check your mail before you try to send email you should not have any problem.

Q: Important Note on Long Distance Charges

A: Red River will not be responsible for any long distance, connection or time-based charges that result from your computer dialing and establishing a connection to the Internet. It is the sole and entire responsibility of the user to assure that any number dialed by their computer is indeed a local call and not subject to any long distance charges or connection fees. If there is any question whether a number you want to use for roaming is in the local calling area where you are, check with the telephone company at your roaming destination.
